The Challenges & Pains

Major retail brand with stores internationally experience significant and recurring failures in technology team delivery. Limited transparency and communication in the delivery team meant the process was frustrating and ineffective. Team inefficiencies meant sales revenue opportunities were being missed.

Actions

Conducted an in depth review of existing processes and team structure. Created a tailored technology team structure to meet the ongoing delivery requirements of the business. Implemented Planned Agile (TM) to plan and project workload.

Results

New team structure was successfully implemented within 2 weeks of the project initiation . Increased level of communication and transparency resulting in greater team satisfaction. Highly respected and experienced industry leader had existing IP relating to helping customers select their best product with the least impact on their business. Method used was not utilized by many competitors due to the labour-intensive nature of the process. Business owner could not continue using the process due to the high ongoing cost.

Actions

A series of tech-feasibility sessions, supported by research and analysis, allowed the business owner to identify existing systems that could be utilized to create the desired system. Feasibility was conducted to assess the investment against the business case and return. Designed and developed the software system with the business owner.

The founder had previously spent large sums of money with business partners building a technology product that had little uptake and was closed. Whilst they still saw an available market opportunity, they did not want to repeat the same mistakes

Artificial intelligence algorithm produced by a PhD with over 15 years experience as a leader in the field. Technology was able to mimic complex human decision making to a 95% accuracy level.

Leadership team lacked clarity in how to take the technology to the market. Although the technology was developed, it was in a completely unusable state and so had no value in the commercial world

Actions

Engenesis used the Genesis Framework to identify that a prototype and small-but-scalable version of the platform should be developed. A full UI/UX design process was undertaken to make the sophisticated technology easy-to-use. Using Planned Agile, the software was developed and launched.

Results

The Challenges & Pains

The market demand was clear and well known for some time, but there were limited resources to enter into a new venture. The CEO did not want to have the existing team distracted on a new focus.

Actions

Engenesis activated a multi-disciplinary team of 9 within weeks to work on the new concept. The existing team could continue focusing on the core product without distraction. In a short time, a full prototype was created and information memorandum outlining the strategy and return on investment.

Saw that there was a gap in the market: their industry was not being digitized and most processes still involved unnecessary paperwork. Created an initial concept of a digitized system that saved hundreds of hours of labour. CEO had no technology experience.

Engenesis undertook the Genesis Framework with the CEO, starting with a few sketches of the idea and turning it into a prototype. Through a fraction of the development cost, a prototype was created and customer demand was validated, bringing the venture risk dramatically down. They were running a manual, low leverage business model for years. It worked, but there were critical limitations when it came to growing the business. The business had reached a plateau. Management were stressed and the existing team were questioning the future of the company. The business owner had a number of ideas, but did not know which to advance with.

Undertook the DISCOVER and DEFINE phase of the Genesis Framework with the CEO. Extracted each potential business concept from the CEO. Assessed the business models associated with each and defined the strategy and requirements to take that concept to market. Created an information memorandum for prospective investors.

The CEO gained full clarity on each business concept, and had full clarity on the risk and return level of the investment. They compared the ventures with other avenues to expand their business and decided against the creation of new income streams. Engenesis worked with the founders to understand and prepare for the fundraising process. They worked with Engenesis to create a strategic roadmap toward the sustainability and traction of the venture. In the area of technology product design and development, the Planned Agile(TM) methodology was used to create an intensely focused version of the application to launch into the market.

The team successfully secured their funding. Through Engenesis' existing team infrastructure, a team of 8 were activated within 24 hours of the funding being processed allowing the company to begin rapidly implementing the next version of their product. The strategy was significantly more clear such that they had dramatically reduced technology costs and risks whilst also building up their early stage customer database across Australia.

Niche expert with years of experience in the construction field. He was a well sought after consultant to large, tier 1 construction companies. He also had experience creating his own application and launching it on the App Store.

In a previous venture, the founder launched on the Appstore only to find that although he had invested tens of thousands of dollars, he had very few sales. Whilst persisting over several years to try to increase sales, he realised the market was too small and closed the business. He knew there were still unsolved problems in his niche of construction, but he did not want to repeat the same mistakes.

He started working his new ideas through the Genesis Framework. This involved a series of workshops and sessions to identify all of the key value propositions of his business concept and have them mapped out clearly.
